Marriage Certificates

On your wedding day you will be provided with a marriage certificate.

This certificate is the official marriage certificate that a celebrant must supply you with on your wedding day.

Brides sign all certificates in their maiden name.

The Certificates are all signed by the Bride, Groom, two witnesses over 18 and the celebrant.

Interesting note: A woman retains her maiden name for life, so it is by choice that she takes her husbands name. She may always return to her maiden name after divorce and marry again by her maiden name.

When a bride wants to change her name after marriage
Most brides do want to change their names as soon as they are married. You may become Mrs Groom as soon as you are married, however to change names on passports, bank accounts, licences and many other legal documents you will need to obtain a registered marriage certificate. This is not provided by the celebrant and will need to be ordered form Births Deaths and Marriages in the state that the marriage was held in.

Births Deaths and Marriages charge a fee for these forms. There are lovely comemorative certificates available also.

Below are the links to the forms that may be of assistance to you. Please check the pricing on the websites before downloading forms.
